Tick, tock, tick, tock. Here we go again, another passage of time. As the final seconds of the year become history, we become introspective. At the end of a year it is common practice to start the new year off on the right foot. It is time once again for the annual ritual of making resolutions. As the world struggles to recover from the latest financial crisis, confronts a potential nuclear fall out in the Korean peninsula, global warming, and governments catering to the lowest common denominator, the question is begged: How can we improve the world in 2011? Herewith some resolutions to consider:
1. Improve your health care system America! Perhaps it is good to take a cue from the French. It's time for fundamental change.
2. Stay fit. Once again America, this is for you. Exercise more and eat better. Steer clear of artificial sweeteners and hormone-infused foods.
3. Be green Earthlings. Mother Earth is in trouble. Reuse, reduce, recycle!
4. Spend wisely, businesses and banks. Improve corporate responsibility. Regulation bring stability. Stick to first principles and balance budgets. Excessive greed is evil.
5. Improve relationships. Give peace a chance, Korea (China and America, reach an agreement to reunite the peninsula). Nuclear fallout is a zero sum game.
6. Embrace thy neighbor. Help out one another, lend a helping hand, European Union. India and Pakistan, compete commercially rather than militarily.
7. Quit gossiping. To leak or not to leak, that is the question. Do you need to go thus far, Wikileak? Be constructive.
8. End theatrical micromilitarism and rein in the military-industrial complex. Crack down on the global arms trade and pay serious attention to nuclear proliferation, America, Russia, and China!
9. Learn something from China and India on population control. Yes to family planning! Yes to separation of church and state, Philippines!
10. Stick to your resolutions. Come on world, make a quantum leap for the new year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
